A new community garden rooted in partnership and purpose is taking shape in Pottstown. First Presbyterian Church and Trellis for Tomorrow have joined forces to launch the Grateful Harvest Community Garden, a collaborative gardening initiative at 750 N. Evans Street, offering fresh produce, education, and connection for local residents.
This project is supported by American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding and will serve as a hub for both food production and community engagement. Designed with sustainability and accessibility in mind, the garden features 15 rentable beds, including several beds designed for accessible use, with drip irrigation and deer fencing, as well as dedicated areas for growing nutrient-dense food for donation.
Beginning in 2026, local residents will be able to rent garden plots for personal use, supported by Trellis’ Food for All program. In the meantime, volunteer-led harvests will supply fresh produce to food access programs across the borough.
“The Grateful Harvest Community Garden is an extension of our faith in action,” said Susan Moyer, Mission Committee Chair at First Presbyterian Church, Pottstown. “It reflects our values of service, stewardship, and neighborliness. We’re proud to see this dream growing into reality.”
Trellis for Tomorrow will provide seedlings, tools, and educational support for volunteers and community members, using the garden as a space for skill-building and deeper engagement with local food systems.
“Working towards a system of food security and sustainability means we go beyond simply feeding people — it requires respect, collaboration, and the cultivation of collective resilience,” said Jennifer Anderson, Executive Director of Trellis for Tomorrow. “This partnership with First Presbyterian represents a shared vision to empower people by growing food, all together in community.”
The public is invited to join First Presbyterian Church and Trellis for Tomorrow for a garden celebration on Sunday, October 26 at 12 PM. In addition to garden tours, refreshments, and local speakers, community members can learn more about renting a garden bed and volunteering for the 2026 season.
Trellis for Tomorrow, a nonprofit founded in 2003, supports youth and communities through experiential programs in sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, and food justice.
