What To Expect When Volunteering

What Will we do and for how long?

Depending on the season and weather, we might work together to sow seeds, plant seedlings, weed garden beds, or harvest vegetables for donation. Prepare to work outside for two to three hours.

Who Can Volunteer?

We welcome volunteers of ages 12 and up. No previous gardening experience necessary!

What To Bring?

Dress in layers appropriate for the temperature and insects. You may spend time on uneven ground around garden tools, so protect your feet in sturdy, closed-toed shoes. We also recommend packing a full water bottle, a hat, insect repellent, and sunscreen.

Do I need to bring Supplies?
Trellis for Tomorrow will provide tools and gloves, but you’re welcome to bring your own.
Do I Need To Do Anything Before The Event?

All volunteers must complete a waiver before participating in an event. If this will be your first event with Trellis this calendar year, please complete a waiver online or plan to complete one in-person before the event begins.

Will There Be A Restroom On-Site?

Many of our events are at Lundale Farm, which has a portable toilet on-site. For events at other locations, Trellis will share more information about restroom access prior to the event.

What if the weather doesn’t cooperate?
Scheduled volunteer events may be cancelled in cases of rain or extreme weather. Trellis will notify all volunteers with as much notice as possible.
Are the gardens accessible?
Please note that some gardens are not ADA accessible. Please reach out to us in advance if you have questions about accessibility.
